General Terms
- MMS
- Maintenance Management System
- AiM
- The MMS application in use at IU, starting July 13, 2009.
- F-Max or Facility Max
- The former name of AiM. The product name was changed during the first half of 2009.
- Facility Focus
- The MMS system used at IU between 1999 and 2009.
- AssetWorks
- The company that makes AiM. They also made Facility Focus.
- Workdesk
- The screen that you see on your web browser when accessing the MMS application. All interaction with MMS is done via the Workdesk.
- Module
- Which area of the MMS you are working in, divided by type of work. For example, Work Management, or Puchasing. You must select your module, and then select which screen within that module you wish to use.
Work Management
- Work Order
- In the work managment module, this is used to represent any work performed. In order to track work performed, time put in, materials used, a work order must first be created.
- Phase
- A portion of a work order. Each phase is associated with one and only one shop. Work done by different shops should be applied against different phases.
- Standing Work Order
- A work order for work that is continuous or repeated every year. These work orders are left open, and closed at the end of a fiscal year.
Reports
- IUIE
- IU Information Environment. This is a central location for database reports from across the university. In order to access most MMS reports, you will need access to IUIE. Contact the MMS Administrators to request access.
- BIRT
- Business Intelligence Reporting Tool -- A database reporting program. Most MMS reports are displayed using BIRT.
